Some 1,700 Latin American migrants, mainly Hondurans, arrived in the Mexican border town of Piedras Negras, at the same moment that US President Donald Trump in his State of the Union said that he will ensure that the wall is built at the Southern Border.

Piedras Negras is separated from the Texan city of Eagle Pass by the Rio Grande river.

Mr Claudio Bres Garza, the mayor of the Mexican city with some 150,000 inhabitants, says that 84 percent of the migrants come from Honduras, and the rest from Nicaragua and El Salvador.

The Governor of the Mexican state of Coahuila, Mr Miguel Angel Riquelme, has warned that anyone without legal documentation making any kind of trouble would immediately be sent back.

The migrants are part of a larger caravan that left Honduras around 15 January of this year, hoping to get to the US.
