As we’ve informed you over the weekend (see our related coverage) the Russian city of Nova Zembla is being overrun by hungry polar bears who have moved into the residences looking for food.
As these are protected species, Russian citizens are not allowed to kill them.
Resident Anastasia Bondarenko: ‘There are no more enemies. That is they became insolent. This is scary. When they walk under your window at night, it is creepy.’
Local administrative head Zigansha Musin: ‘I have been in Novaya Zemlya since 1983, yet I’ve never seen such a massive polar bear invasion.’
