In the US two weeks ago, there was consternation when new Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema showed up to congress wearing a pair of thigh-high boots and a skintight dress (see our related coverage).
Brazilian social media posters have now jokingly said that their local politician Ms Ana Paula da Silva must have seen those pictures and thought “I can do better than that.”
The above picture shows what the congresswoman chose to wear at the Santa Catarina state assembly swearing in ceremony.
Ms Da Silva received backlash on social media for her choice of outfit but has stood by her choice of outfit worn on February 1st.

She responded on Facebook: “This macho and prejudiced world you live in is not mine. I’ve seen a lot of men in suits and ties taking money out of the health sector, school meals, that’s unacceptable.”
