‘Dive into history’ is the appealing text with which French tour operator Clio managed to find twenty adventurers in no time for a controversial round-the-country journey to Syria.
Eight years of war have caused major wounds in the country, for which there is still a negative travel advice in most of the major economic powers, but this French tour operator didn’t care that much and offered a program.
‘It was an immediate success,’ says director Jean-Pierre Respaut to French news agency AFP. He pushes aside the negative position of the French foreign ministry
“The situation is currently much more stable. In large parts of the country it is quiet now that the regime has recaptured most of its territory.”
Mr Respaut expects to be able to offer the trip five more times this year.
