A Chinese woman carrying various techological devices and a USB drive containing malware was arrested at US President Donald’s Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. The woman, named as Yujing Zhang was found to be carrying 4 cellphones, 2 passports, a laptop, an external hard drive and a thumb drive with malware.
Yujing Zhang, from the People’s Republic of China, claimed that she wanted to go to the club’s swimming pool to pass the first checks, according to her arrest report. She benefited from the fact that the list of accredited persons had a namesake, and from the language barrier. That way she could pass the first checkpoint. She didn’t manage to pass the second one though.
With a golf cart she was then taken to the reception of the complex, where she said she was invited to an event of an American-Chinese friendship group of the UN.
The receptionist, who found no trace of the event, sounded the alarm. During her interrogation, the president’s security agents found that the Chinese carried four mobile phones, a computer, a hard drive and a USB stick with “malware”.
The woman is accused of making false statements and of entering a secure site. However, she could not reach the president. At the time of the facts, he was playing golf in another part of the club where he often stays.
In April 2017, the First Couple hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan at the Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida.
