ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations in Dallas stepped up their operations yesterday when more than 280 employees of a Texas company were arrested in the biggest workplace raid in the past ten years.
Federal immigration authorities arrested workers at CVE Technology Group Inc. in Allen, north of Dallas, for working in the United States unlawfully.
ICE agents explained that they believe the company knowingly hired workers who are in the US without authorization. Many of them had fake identification ready.
CVE Technology Group is a New Jersey-based company which repairs tech products that has a large depot in North Texas.
Katrina W. Berger, a special agent in charge for ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations in Dallas, stated: ‘Our focus is the criminal investigation. As far as immigration-related arrests, this is the largest ICE worksite operation at one site in the last 10 years.’
Anel Perez, whose father works at the facility, claimed: ‘It’s not fair. It’s really sad and it makes a lot of people really angry and frustrated.’
