Brexit may no longer be the highest level negotiation going on in London now that Wikileaks has revealed via its social media that their founder and known whistleblower Julian Assange would soon be expelled from the Ecuadorian embassy where he’s been hiding for the past few years.
WikiLeaks tweeted from its verified account Thursday, “BREAKING: A high level source within the Ecuadorian state has told @WikiLeaks that Julian Assange will be expelled within “hours to days” using the #INAPapers offshore scandal as a pretext–and that it already has an agreement with the UK for his arrest.”
Meanwhile Ecuador’s Foreign Ministry refuses to comment on those claims.
However, earlier this week, Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno said that Mr Assange has already repeatedly violated protocol at the embassy. “Several times, Mr. Assange has violated the agreement we reached with him and his lawyers.”
It is also unclear whether the London’s Metropolitan Police would arrest Mr Assange if he is indeed forced to leave.
