A very rare weather phenomenon for Romania in Eastern Europe as a giant tornado could be seen near Calarasi. It left several people injured as a bus was forced off the road and the strong winds overturned it in a nearby field.
Local reports declared that some twelve people on the bus were hurt and one passenger was treated for severe trauma.
The freak weather early on Tuesday evening was a result of a cold front from Bulgaria, to the south, which collided with far warmer, moist air in southern Romania, said meteorologists.
The tornado’s speed was estimated 56mph. Some on social media claimed it was an F3.
