A school shooting, the drug-fueled rise of a pop star and Natalie Portman acting like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas make ‘Vox Lux’ seem like a movie to be on the lookout for. In the midst of blockbusters featuring exploding universes (Avengers Endgame) and blue Will Smith’s (Aladdin), it is a delight to see some real acting up there.
Former actor Brady Corbet has apparently delivered another masterpiece after the critically acclaimed ‘the Childhood of a leader,’ at least if mainstream movie reviewers are to be believed. At the age of only 30, that is quite a feat.
Portman does her best Joe Pesci impression of the infamous clip where Pesci makes fun or Ray Liotta in an exchange with her movie-sister and throws around the same violence and gut she was seen making during her now infamous ‘Portman Rap’ on SNL. If you’ve never seen either, enjoy.
