At Louisville Airport in the US state of Kentucky, passengers were on Saturday ready to board a PSA Airlines aircraft when their pilot was suddenly arrested for a triple murder.
On Saturday morning, 51-year-old pilot Mr Christian Richard Martin was arrested by the police just moments before take-off.
Astonished passengers looked on as they thought the pilot of their flight with PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, was getting arrested for open drunkenness or something. “The atmosphere was very tense. You noticed something serious was going on with the staff, ”says traveler Frances Wise.
During the course of the day, the Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that Mr Martin was arrested on suspicion of triple murder, arson, burglary and manipulation of evidence.
It refers to an unsolved murder case from 2015 in which three people were brutally killed in Pembroke, a village in the state of Kentucky.
The victims’ families welcomed the news in a joint statement through the attorney general’s office.
“Every day, we are haunted by what was done to them and haunted further that someone was still free to do as they wish, beyond the civility of mankind or laws of our nation,” the families said.
“We look forward to justice in court, and we look forward to a verdict to bring an end to this terror, and a fresh start at healing.”
