Police have arrested a suspect after a California woman was beaten to death with an electric scooter Monday afternoon. The deadly attack occured around 12.30pm Monday near the intersection of Odispo Avenue and 64th Street in Long Beach, California.
63-year-old Rosa Manjarrez De Hernandez was simply walking down the sidewalk along Odispo Avenue when she was confronted and attacked by a man.
The suspect continued the assault and picked up a nearby electric Bird scooter, which was used to bludgeon the female victim to death.
Apparently, the hits were so hard that the scooter broke in half during the attack.
Investigators don’t think the attacker and the victim knew each other.
Bird, the scooter manufacturer released a statement: ‘We are deeply saddened by this act of violence and our hearts and thoughts go out to the victim and her family. We will work with local law enforcement to help with the investigation into this tragedy.’
