Tourists in ‘the eternal city’ are warning each other that a café near the Vatican has redefined the term “tourist trap” as it knows it is the only one in a prime location. The ‘Caffe Vaticano’ is making tourists paying through the nose for the pleasure of using its terrace.
Already there were many warnings on Yelp and Tripadvisor in which tourists claimed that any café showing a menu without prices was to be avoided at all times, the fact that the place is the only one you see on your way out of the Vatican museum means it is an easy trap for elder tourists who don’t check ratings and reviews.
Emma Sheppy shared some of their receipts with outrageous prices to Facebook and posted a warning, reading: “VISITORS OF ROME BEWARE: Caffe Vaticano has been ripping off tourists for ages apparently. Just skip it and find another place to eat near the Vatican. There’s tons!”
