The skies over Victoria and South Australia were lit up last week when a car-sized meteor shot down to earth. The great ball of fire was caught by a helipad camera near the waters of the Great Australian Bight late Tuesday night, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
“The whole night sky glowed a brilliant orange with what looked like a comet with flames shooting from Earth to the atmosphere,” recounted Facebook user Katie Wahlheim, who shared footage of the meteor, along with several others, including the SA Health group.
“Amazing flash of light, this big orange fireball coming down,” resident Joshua Kennedy, of Adelaide’s suburbs, told 7 NEWS Australia. “Just absolutely spectacular.”
